INFOGRAFICOS EFSA / Infographic: Zoonoses

Zoonoses are diseases that can be transmitted directly or indirectly between animals and humans, for instance by consuming contaminated foodstuffs or through contact with infected animals. In order to prevent zoonoses from occurring, it is important to identify which animals and foodstuffs are the main sources of infections. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) analyse the information submitted by Member States on human cases and prevalence of zoonotic agents in animals and food, and publish an annual joint report.
